چکیده

The anti-ulcerogenic potential of the leaf metha Berger was investigated using three methods of gastric Wistar rats (150-200 g) and mice (20-25 g): 1. HCl/e Indomethacin-HCl/ethanol-induced gastric lesions, a gastric lesions. Mice were used in acute and sub acute t of the extract of Aloe buettneri to the rats and mice (50 prevented the formation of acute gastric lesions induc techniques. The dose-dependent reduction of lesion fo significant increase in gastric mucus production in mic was 22 and 54 % in mice, 25 and 77% in rats for the do the HCl/ethanol mixture was given. Pre-treatment, by significantly reduced the ability of the extract to inhib induced lesions, inhibition dropping to 11% for the dos were subjected to pylorus ligation, the level of lesion in two doses of extract. Gastric acid secretion reduced to 88 mEq/l for the controls. Acute toxicity studies did not rev 10 g/kg. However, sub acute studies revealed toxicity e (diffuse alveolar disease) and liver (chronic active hepat the ethnomedical use of Aloe buettneri in the mana disease and suggest that toxic effects may result from p the extract.

Gastroprotective Effect of Hydroalcoholic Extract of Aloe buettneri

Aloe buettneri A. Berger is commonly used in traditional Togolese medicine to treat inflammatory and gastric ulcers. The present study examined the gastro-protection effect of the hydro-alcoholic extract of A. buettneri on mucus production and gastric pH. A gastric ulcer is induced by ethanol 95° alone (1 ml/kg body weight), after pre-treatment with indomethacin (300 mg/kg) or by utilising L-NA...
